Ratlab is a Norwegian Hard Rock band formed in 2009. Based in Stavanger, Norway, they have released two albums(Novelties 2013, Past and Future Present 2018) and a double EP(Rums’ Bay Part I and II, 2016, 2017).
Influences vary from 80’s rockstars like Metallica, Iron Maiden and Guns’n Roses to more classic rock bands like Deep Purple, Rainbow and Judas Priest. The name «Ratlab» is formed by combining/sharing some of the members’ first letters: Arne Reidar Mortensen(AR), Bjørn Arnold Alvsåker(BA), Tore Lofnes(TL), Ørjan Barrie Hennes(B).

The band’s mission is to reawake the glory days of hard rock, jamming and messing with the various genres of 70’s, 80’s, and even 90’s hard rock and progressive rock. Their last album, Past and Future Present takes you through human history from it’s origin (The Fall) to one probable(and not an optimistic one) future(Mankind V2.0). The band’s current steampunk-inspired image reflects the past/future topic. May 2022 Ratlab released their latest single called «The Hammer and The Dance» – their statement of the Covid-19-pandemic. Typically, the single is quite long, 9:04 minutes, just as the pandemic itself was and felt like.
